A short drive along a country lane lined with cypresses, fields of sunflowers, woods and vineyards leads you to Caselsa.
It is not hard to understand that you are in the heart of Tuscany, the cradle of the art. From here, you can easily visit the many-towered world-famous Renaissance village of San Gimignano. On the next hill lies the medieval “borgo” of Certaldo Alta, once home to Boccaccio. Certaldo is well-known for Della Robbia’s pottery production, Benozzo Gozzoli , Pier Francesco Fiorentino’s frescoes and many other Middle Age painters, but also for the “Mercantia” Teatralfestamercato, which takes place every year in July.
Furthermore, from Caselsa, you should not miss the opportunity to visit the 13th-century Franciscan monastery of San Vivaldo and the nearby Etruscan ruins.

Caselsa dates back to the 19th-century and its name comes from the river Elsa, which flows along the valley in the district of Gambassi Terme, Badia a Cerreto (Firenze). It comprises two buildings – the main farmhouse and a smaller adjacent converted barn.
The farmhouse has been catalogued as an ‘historical building’ and for this reason is subject to structural and environmental ties.

The original building was just the “Tower”, built to see the arrival of strangers. Through the years, the structure has been enlarged to its present form.

In 1992 the building was been completely restored and divided into 7 independent apartments, each of them furnished with all modern comforts. In the grounds there is a swimming pool, a hydro-massage pool and two barbecues.

Caselsa, immersed in the magical atmosphere of the Tuscan hills, is surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, cherry trees, walnut trees and woods. It is located in the heart of Tuscany, in the Chianti region. From here it is easy to reach the most important towns in about an hour by car, or by train from Certaldo: Florence (55km), Siena (45km), San Gimignano (13km), Volterra (40km), Cortona (100km), Lucca (65km), Pisa (50km). On return from a day out, you can relax with a swim in the pool, enjoying the nature and the absolute peace of Caselsa.
